By definition, individuals applying for SSDI benefits are not able to work due to a disability. They are often adjusting to a sudden loss of employment income or have been without a steady income for months or even years.
Allsup’s Disability Life Planning Service (DLPS) is an affordable fee-based counseling service that provides expert knowledge and personal, objective guidance to help individuals understand and deal with financial issues through the Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) application process and beyond.
The Disability Life Planning Service helps people with disabilities manage a financial crisis by:
- Analyzing their overall financial picture to get a thorough understanding of the financial impact that their disability has had on their life.
- Identifying resources and opportunities that may reduce their financial burden.
- Providing guidance on how to prevent or otherwise minimize their loss of assets.
They also receive access to the personalized assistance of a knowledgeable Disability Life Planning Service specialist who will:
- Work with them one-on-one to understand their specific financial situation, develop a budget and help them plan for the future.
- Educate them on assistance programs available to them.
- Prepare a detailed report that outlines these programs, plus budget concerns, tax and other important considerations tailored to their particular situation.
- Act as their resource for personal financial planning and answer any questions they may have now and throughout the SSDI process.
The Allsup Disability Life Planning Service is just another example of the True Help® we provide to those with permanent disabilities so they can lead lives that are as financially secure and as healthy as possible.
